Iridium(III) chloride anhydrous

CAS No. 10025-83-9
Category: Compound

Anhydrous iridium trichloride is an important chemical used primarily in the synthesis of other iridium compounds and as an initial feedstock for preparation of iridium containing catalysts. It is widely used in the field of petrochemical and organic synthesis. In petrochemical processes, iridium compounds are often used as homogeneous catalysts in the carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid or acetic anhydride. Iridium trichloride is widely used in various organic synthesis ‌as a hydrogenation catalyst or polymerization catalyst. Iridium trichloride is the basic raw material for the preparation of iridium metal catalyst. The low-priced iridium metal complexes can be obtained by reduction reaction. These complexes are used as efficient homogeneous catalysts in organic synthesis and petrochemical production.
